Review: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition

GODDAMMIT! Doesn’t anybody give a shit about the rules anymore?! I didn’t watch my buddies die face down in the mud so some fucking digital nobody could just hide in the bushes the whole match and shoot me! Yep, I’ve been playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 all week and I want to tear my eyes out. I’m a veteran of this franchise which saw its newest and most notable release on Tuesday, Nov. 10th.  Modern Warfare 2 (which is rated M for MADNESS) is pretty much everything you’d expect it to be. This is a double edged sword. While the first Modern Warfare blew minds for a myriad of reasons, the second can’t really snipe your expectations in the same way. So what it does is walk the straight and narrow and it does that very, very well.

Small tweaks to the multiplayer include updated perks and server migration. All the campaign chapters have been shortened and the environments are all on steroids. Infinity Ward really went above and beyond with the mission to mission dynamics. The story is “meh” but the real reason Modern Warfare 2 delivers is the Spec Ops mode. This mode allows you to play missions with a partner on your squad or manning a predator drone. It’s killer and that’s where I see the future of warfare damn it.

As for the Prestige,  I dig the real-deal night vision goggles they sent along with the game but it never really gets dark in New York City.  I intend to scare the shit out of some people next time I go upstate though. The steel case, book and giant MacTavish head that came with this package is taking up valuable real estate in my tiny Manhattan apartment but I will allow it since I support our troops.
