Owen Wilson to Star in New Woody Allen Flick

Woody Allen, the prolific filmmaker who hasn’t taken a break writing/directing movies since the late 1970s, has a new movie in the works and has secured Owen Wilson to play the lead role. The crooked-nosed actor has attached himself to the new movie according to the Risky Business blog. He’s set to star alongside French first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, who accepted the role last November. I find myself asking, though: Is Wilson right for a Woody Allen movie? MORE »

Batman and Robin Voted Worst Movie Ever Made

What was the worst movie ever made? According to a poll conducted by Empire magazine, the 1997 blockbuster Batman and Robin, starring George Clooney and Chris O’Donnell, is indeed the worst film of all time, the film’s camp combination of batsuit nipples and lame dialogue received almost three times as many votes as its nearest contender, the John Travolta-starring Battlefield Earth, which was based on the book by Scientology founder Ron L. Hubbard.

Avatar Is King Of The World Box Office

James Cameron’s latest sci-fi epic drama, this one filmed in IMAX 3D and costing $500 million to produce, has broken the world box office record, surpassing the sales of Cameron’s earlier Titanic to become the highest grossing movie of all time.  The record now stands at $1.843 billion dollars, a staggering sum that includes the $551 million of domestic sales.  Fox studios definitely earned some serious bread with this one, and contrary to all haters, it was well worth the $20 at the IMAX. The Year in Film in Seven Minutes

If so, please check out the beautifully crafted tribute video edited by Kees van Dijkhuizen, who compiled all of the 342 films that were released this year into a seven minute video. van Dijkhuizen created a similar project last year, but I prefer this year’s edit, from the choice of represented scenes to the background music. The Runaways Teaser Hits the Web

The highly anticipated biopic on the all girl rock band who put a strangle hold on the music industry in the late 1970’s has finally hit the web. And if these clips are any indication, Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning and the rest of the ladies fully embodied what it takes to be in The Runaways. NYC Kicks Off Where the Wild Things Are Week

The highly anticipated big screen adaptation of the classic Where the Wild Things Are doesn’t hit theaters until next Friday, but there are a handful of things to get your fix before the big day. New York City and Warner Bros. Pictures have teamed up in support of the film and created a Where the Wild Things Are Week, which will feature events, readings and screenings in preparation for the films release on October 16th.
