Amy Rose Spiegel :: Friday, February 5th, 2010 3:35 pm

Spoon debuted the video for the first single from Transference, “Written In Reverse,” today on Pitchfork.  The video takes a literal approach - they play the track in front of an enormous mirror.  They’re also about to begin their tour of Europe, North America, and Australia, beginning in the UK on Valentine’s Day.

Check out the video premiere of “Longform” by The Dodos on Pitchfork from their third album Time To Die released this past summer. It’s got that remiss roadtrip vibe, perennial sunlight, and an unceasing camera pan that reveals, well, nothing.

Isaac Lekach :: Friday, December 11th, 2009 1:30 pm

Robert Pollard (Guided By Voices) must write songs in his sleep. There is no other explanation for his prolific output. He surely doesn’t “rest for a little while.” Peep the video after the jump and learn how to make an apple pie.

Music Video: WHY? “These Hands/ January Twenty Something”

Alex Moore :: Monday, November 30th, 2009 11:00 am

WHY?’s new record Eskimo Snow is one of our favorites of 2009, and it if you haven’t seen the new video for its combined first two songs, “These Hands” and “January Twenty Something,” you should check it out after the jump.

The video was directed by Ben Barnes, and although we’re not sure exactly why they decided to combine both songs into one video, more video is better than less in our book.

Music Video: High Places “I Was Born”

Elissa Suh :: Monday, November 2nd, 2009 5:40 pm

Originally born out of Brooklyn, two-piece band High Places released a new video for their single “I Was Born” from their self titled record. The bassoon sounds of Mary Pearson start off the song, later joined by Rob Barber’s melodious guitar. Completely without color, the video for “I Was Born” features trippy super impositions and low-key lighting, making it entirely a High Places creation.

Music Video: Ramona Falls “I Say Fever”

Elissa Suh :: Monday, November 2nd, 2009 3:20 am

Once part of Portland trio Menomena, Brent Knopf has embarked on his first solo venture called Ramona Falls. The first video from LP Intuit, entitled “I Say Fever” debuted last week and was directed by animation genius Stefan Nadelman, who also happens to be a 2009 Sundance winner. See the video for “I Say Fever” after the jump. Ramona Falls’ spacey sound is matched by the videos surreal visuals. Eerie mannequin-like folk, animals in suits, and terrorizing birds are all present in this unearthly tale of the West.

Beware of the wild things.

New Video: El Perro Del Mar

Alex Moore :: Monday, October 26th, 2009 10:35 am

Swedish popster El Perro Del Mar (Sarah Assbring)  has released a new video for “Change Of Heart” from her new record Love Is Not Pop.

It’s a simple idea: Two jacked, mostly-naked dudes doing a bunch of Cirque Du Solei type stuff. Yes, it’s super awkaward — it’ll definitely make you feel uncomfortable — but seriously, these guys are amazing. You won’t be able to look away. Perfect for distracting yourself on the Internet. Nice job Sarah. Not a bad record, either!

Watch the video after the jump.

Music Video: Weezer “(If You’re Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To”

Isaac Lekach :: Thursday, October 22nd, 2009 12:20 pm

Check out Weezer’s new video for “(If You’re Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To” after the jump. It’s off Raditude (an album title that still doesn’t sit well with me), which comes out in two weeks. 500 Days of Summer director Marc Webb is responsible for the cutesy aesthetic. My question is, when did Rivers started to look like Rick Moranis circa 1984?
