Mel Gibson Polling Higher As Oksana Grigorieva Backlash Begins

Oksana Grigorieva, Mel Gibson‘s ex-girlfriend and owner of the dubious distinction of being the first link that comes up when you Google “cunt bitch golddigger cunt whore,” is now being investigated by LAPD detectives for an attempted extortion plot, said a spokesperson Wednesday.

For many, the news of Grigorieva’s attempted extortion plot have turned the tables in Gibson’s favor. The accusations of blackmail against Grigorieva have led to a rush of support for the actor, with 63% of those polled in a CBS News survey believing that Gibson was “set up” and a slew of LA Times commenters referring to her as a Russian gold digger.” Cue the finger-pointing and victim-blaming: the backlash against Mel Gibson’s ex-girlfriend has officially begun. When Sarah Palin returned to Facebook yesterday, her web soapbox, she gave endorsement in the race for a California Senate seat to former CEO of Hewlett-Packard Carly Fiorino over Chuck DeVore, the government-reform darling of the Tea Party Movement.  This didn’t sit well with the more radical followers of Palin’s, who even go on to call her and Fiorino RINOs, and the comments got nasty quick: uppercases, italics and elipses, you name it. Is Animal Collective Finished?

Ok, don’t break out your tissues and bottles of sleeping pills just yet. Let me make this clear: Animal Collective is NOT officially breaking up so there is no need get all boozy and sadly reminisce about seeing them in Prospect Park this past summer. According to a BBC 6 interview with Noah Lennox, aka Panda Bear and Animal Collective member, the band is not breaking up, just taking a well deserved break. The famed experimentalists and hipster forefathers, whose eighth full-length album Merriweather Post Pavilion made it to the US top 20 chart, are “exhausted” after touring for most of 2009, and plan to “lay low” for a while.
