Lion’s Mane Jellyfish Stings 150 From The Grave, Whale Body Slams Boat — Are The Oceans Getting Revenge? (VIDEOS)

Travis Walter Donovan :: Thursday, July 22nd, 2010 6:36 pm

At a state park beach in New Hampshire, a 13-foot-long, 50-pound jellyfish stung 150 people. If that isn’t crazy enough, the menacing jelly-villain executed its evil plan while already dead.

In another part of the world, a whale with an extreme distaste for khaki pants and fancy cocktails belly-flopped onto a yacht. Apparently, you should never deny a cetacean membership in your prestigious boating club.

Are these mere fortuitous events? Or is this the beginning of something much bigger? Are the oceans, fed up with oil spills, overfishing and plastic pollution, fighting back!? MORE »

Preview of James Franco In Ginsberg Biopic Howl

Nick Nicoludis :: Thursday, July 15th, 2010 1:30 pm

When I heard there was going to be a movie based on the epic, book-length poem Howl by Allen Ginsberg (played by James Franco), I wondered how they were going to turn one of the most influential pieces of creative writing into a feature film.

The trailer is finally circulating around the internet, and as it turns out, the movie-which turns out to be a biopic-looks just as amazing as I hoped it would be. Check out the trailer after the jump. MORE »

Trailer: “Machete” Brings the Camp and the D-List

Danielle Johnsen :: Wednesday, May 5th, 2010 2:13 pm

When it was announced that Robert Rodriquez was going to turn his faux trailer “Machete” for “Grindhouse” into a full length flick, I nearly lost my mind. If there is something Rodriquez excels at its his commitment to bringing back the tacky and graphic B-films of the 1970′s, filled to the high heavens with D-List stars. And since I have a soft spot in my heart for craptacular films heavy on the action and a virtual whose-who of nobodies, I was incredibly pleased with the cheesy gruesomeness delivered with the “illegal” Red Band trailer Rodriquez and Danny Trejo, Machete himself, released today to celebrate Cinco De Mayo. Mogwai To Release Live DVD/CD This Summer

Nick Nicoludis :: Friday, April 30th, 2010 5:55 pm

The seminal Scottish post-rocker group Mogwai have joined together with directors/film makers Vincent Moon and Nat Le Scouarnec to create a groundbreaking audio/visual project. The collaboration manifests itself as a live CD and DVD. The combined release, Burning being the DVD portion and Special Moves the CD portion, is footage from three live shows shot in Brooklyn during their 2008/2009 American tour. The film premiered at the Glasgow Film Festival this past February, and has a proper release date of August 2010. But don’t scoff so quickly at the idea of a concert film, because this is nothing like any other concert DVD you’ve seen before. Watch the trailer and get more info after the jump MORE »
