Local Natives Cover “Careful” By Television For Charity

Local Natives have contributed a track to music blog Aquarium Drunkard’s cover album of Television’s classic 1978 album Adventure. The album, L’Aventure, is due out for download only on June 22nd. All proceeds will benefit the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, which is a really cool charity. You can check out the inspired cover of “Careful” here!

Phoenix Acoustic Performance on NPR

They stopped in to NPR’s “Tiny Desk Concerts” and played four of their tracks off of Wolfgang Amadaeus Phoenix completely acoustic. Nas Remixes Gil Scott-Heron Really, Really Well

Both Nas and Gil Scott-Heron are enormous figures in the hip-hop world, albeit in really different ways.  While Nas spits fast-paced, clever rhymes out of the side of his mouth, Gil Scott-Heron is a drawler, taking his time with his words in a soulful cadence familiar to spoken-word artists.  These disparate paces, unsurprisingly, work beautifully when they’re mashed together.  I’m especially thrilled that Nas remixed the best track from Heron’s latest album, I’m New Here, the handclap-laden “New York Is Killing Me.”  Download it here.
