Flexing your musical muscles at the dive bar’s jukebox is so 2009. That hot chick in the corner might enjoy the Neutral Milk Hotel playing in the background, but how would she know you were the one who put it on? For dweebs like you the “yeah, I like awesome music” pick-up-line has now been taken to the next level: interweb online dating! Tastebuds is a new dating website that finds your best matches based on musical taste.
The site takes your Last.fm profile and turns it into your new dating profile. If you’re not a Last.fm user you can simply enter your favorite bands. After entering your bands of choice, sexual orientation, and location, matches are selected for you.
Apparently only one man named Mike in the New York area also likes Beach House and no one was feeling the Dead Weather. I didn’t even get any hits with Modest Mouse. The site is obviously still in its infant stage, but Tastebuds could be the next big thing in online dating. Best part is that it’s free, so you can stop holding bake sales to fund your match.com profile.
