Slash’s Guitar Hero Rip-Off App

Nick Nicoludis :: Thursday, June 10th, 2010 4:30 pm

Right now there are a handful of  iPhone apps connected to different musicians and bands. Both Wilco and Death Cab For Cutie provide streaming music, and an app put out by guitar-god Santana offers guitar lessons for fans. Not wanting to be left out of the app store and the money generated by useless guitar games, Slash has created his own iPhone game eerily similar to Guitar Hero. See a screenshot comparison after the jump. MORE »

Smirnoff Drinking Game Is The Icing On Your Hangover

Amy Laviero :: Wednesday, June 9th, 2010 4:30 pm

While I was pissing away time on Facebook the other day, I came across a friend’s photo album displaying multiple, grainy photos of our friends down on one knee chugging what appeared to be a water bottle. The caption underneath each picture? “ICED!” I was a little more than confused by the messaging, but I was happy my friends had finally learned the art of thwarting hangovers. However, I was mistaken. The bottles pictured were none other than Smirnoff Ice; the gag-inducing malt drink of choice for many underaged girls. MORE »

Google Maps Nearly Kills Woman

Amy Laviero :: Friday, June 4th, 2010 5:30 pm

The other day I was driving from “Lawn Guyland” to NYC, and was psyched to be getting there with the help of my shiny new iPhone. I have a perchant for getting lost, so Google Maps was helpful, although halfway through the trip I realized manually written directions would have been easier to look at while driving. The phone’s small touch-screen was a hard to maneuver behind the wheel, but it’s proven invaluable while wandering city streets. If I were Lauren Rosenberg, however, I may hold a different opinion; while using Google Maps on her BlackBerry in January, Rosenberg walked onto a four-lane highway and found herself right in the path of an oncoming truck. She’s now suing Google Maps for their less-than-accurate directions. I’d say this may be worse than the woman who sued McDonald’s over her hot coffee. MORE »

Does Apple Have the Wrong Idea About the Future of Music?

Alex Moore :: Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010 10:30 am

The music streaming service Lala was shut down yesterday as Apple promised it would be, just five months after acquiring it for $80 million, raising speculation as to what Apple plans to do with the technology.

Do you miss it? Neither do we. We thought Lala’s pay-per-stream subscription service was convoluted and over-complicated. Which is why we fear that for once Apple may have the wrong idea about the future of music. MORE »

New iPad Competitor Has Us Scratching Our Heads

Alex Moore :: Tuesday, June 1st, 2010 1:00 pm

One day after Apple announced that it sold 2 million iPads in its first 2 months on the market, we finally have an announcement about the first real competitor to the iPad.

Is it an offering from Sony, Hewlett Packard, Samsung, or Google? Nope. It’s from a much less famous Taiwanese company called Asus (rhymes with anus), it’s called an “Eee Pad” (rhymes with your puppy’s Wee Wee Pad) and it’s being presented here not by the company’s CEO, but by a couple of anonymous hotties who seem to have turned this tablet into the world’s most expensive Etch-A-Sketch.

Has the whole world gone crazy? Maybe not. The thing actually sounds pretty cool. MORE »

Cupidtino, The Awful New Dating Website For Lovers Of Apple Products

Amy Rose Spiegel :: Wednesday, May 5th, 2010 3:00 pm

Do you base your entire personality on the fact that you own the same popular, expensive technology as most of the people around you?  Well, luckily for you, there’s finally a dating website that can bring you together with singles just as bland as you are!  Cupidtino, a dating website that will launch in June 2010, is a “beautiful new dating site created for fans of Apple products by fans of Apple products!”  This raises a few interesting questions.  What does this say about the extent to which Apple has invaded our culture?  Could this website even work without quickly devolving into a gold-diggers’ paradise?  How can a dating website even be “beautiful?”  And last but not least, what? The Jason Chen Raid: Does Steve Jobs Hate Blogs?

Alex Moore :: Monday, April 26th, 2010 7:45 pm

iPhonegate got more interesting on Monday, as Gizmodo editor John Chen’s computers were seized by police under warrant from a Superior Court Judge in San Mateo County. Long Island Man Takes Apple Obsession to New Level

Amy Laviero :: Friday, April 2nd, 2010 12:15 pm

Greg Packer loves him some Apple. A retired highway maintenance worker from Huntington, LI, has been waiting in line at the fifth avenue Apple store since Tuesday. For those of you who are unaware, the iPad, Apple’s oversized iPod touch, will launch tomorrow, April 3rd. Packer is also credited with being the first person in line at the same Apple store during the launch of the first generation iPhone. In an interview with Mashable, Packer says that he is most excited for the Facebook and Newsday applications, both of which are available on the iPhone/iPod touch as well. While I’m still a bit skeptical about the need for such a device, it seems that people are chomping at the bit in anticipation of its release. The ABC sitcom, Modern Family even devoted a whole half-hour to the iPad craze. Clearly, one iPhone just isn’t enough. Click through to watch an interview with Packer. MORE »

Apple: The New BLOCKBUSTER

Nick Nicoludis :: Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010 1:30 pm

What is technology without innovation? Further, where would the Internet/technology be without sex? It’s not hard to imagine that some of the people propelling the Internet’s popularity are in some way connected to the porn/smut business. I mean, when you were 12 or 13 what took up most of your Internet time? Let me guess: talking on AIM to your buds, trying to download Rancid/Blink-182/Saves the Day/any other tween/pre-teen meme and finally, trying to find porn and not getting caught. Now, Apple has taken all the fun out of technology by banning any app they deem to have adult/objectionable content. MORE »
