The Motion Sick and Golden Bloom to Swap Songs for 7″

Shannon Hassett :: Thursday, February 4th, 2010 2:00 pm

There’s been a serious wave of song swapping lately (the Peter Gabriel thing, Liars/Yeah Yeah Yeahs, etc.), and it’s time for two new bands to hop on board. The Motion Sick and Golden Bloom, both groups that were mentioned in Spin’s ‘Bands Worth a Listen in 2009,’ will be recording a 7″ featuring a cover of the others’ tunes (duh). Golden Bloom will take on “30 Lives” and The Motion Sick will cover “Doomsday Devices” in preparation for the record release party the bands will be hosting together at Boston’s The Middle East on February 19th. In addition to being sold at the show, the 7″ will be given as a free bonus to anyone who purchases their tickets in advance (found here through the Motion Sick site).

Liars To Release Sisterworld, Plus Reinterpretations

Adam Kearney :: Thursday, February 4th, 2010 1:45 pm

LA-born post-punk, art-rock stylists Liars have announced the release date of the double-disc “Sisterworld” for March 9.  The album will feature the single “Scissor,” a downtrodden procession that suddenly explodes into a raucous crash, scheduled for its own release on February 16, but which you can stream right now from their MySpace page.  The second disc of the album will feature reinterpretations of the tracks by some really intense artists such as Atlas Sound, Blonde Redhead, and The Melvins.  Make the jump for the full “Sisterworld” reinterpretations tracklist, as well as Liars‘ April tour dates with fellow LA rockers Fol Chen. Liars Announce New Record

Stephen Blackwell :: Wednesday, November 4th, 2009 2:00 pm

Liars, the Brooklyn band that formed nine years ago and helped usher in the electroclash movement (which subsequently ushered in the gentrification of Williamsburg), have announced the release of their fifth studio album.

The album, called Sisterworld, will be released in early 2010 on Mute. The band recorded the album in the United States, a first since 2004’s They Were Wrong, So We Drowned, one of that year’s cheerier titles.

Says the band, “We’re interested in the alternate spaces people create in order to maintain identity in a city like LA. Environments where outcasts and loners celebrate a skewered relationship to society.”

No track list or tour dates are available yet.
