Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” Used In Dog Show Advertisement

Amy Rose Spiegel :: Friday, February 5th, 2010 4:00 pm

“Paparazzi” becomes “Pupparazzi” in this USA Network advertisement for the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.  Frankly, I find this hysterical.

Fashion Police Arrest MGMT

Shannon Hassett :: Thursday, February 4th, 2010 4:40 pm

How’s this for irritating: Joan Rivers chastising MGMT’s wardrobe at the Grammy Awards. Opinions on talent aside, there’s only so much pick-on-the-little-guy a person can take, and that’s where I draw my line. Rivers is a nutcase, but she knows that, and I have always withheld from criticizing her on those grounds; the woman built her career around being a bitch, and in Hollywood, that’s good enough to earn you some credit. I’m not quite sure why E! deemed the Grammys worthy of an episode of its Fashion Police (Joan Rivers, Giuliana Rancic, Jay Emanuel and Khloe Kardashian), usually reserved for red carpet titans like the Oscars and Golden Globes, but I don’t think anyone could have expected the results to be pretty. Second Lady Gaga Comic Book To Be Released

Amy Rose Spiegel :: Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010 5:55 pm

In October 2009, Marc Jacobs stores sold Lady Gaga-centric comic books for two dollars a pop.  The small book was a short, witty piece that focused less on Gaga’s history and more on the Lady’s famously freaky penchant for high fashion.  The illustrations, drawn by the artist Brian Enersen, were very simple and sketched in stark black lines.  An upcoming comic book, titled “Fame: Lady Gaga,” is another approach to portraying the singer in pictures.

The two covers for the book, featured today on MTV News, are full-color portraits of Lady Gaga.  The comic book itself is supposedly biographical.  It’s slated to be released in May. Nerdy, comic-book-lovin’ pop enthusiasts, take note.

The Only Thing More Frightening than Michael Jackson? Michael Jackson in 3-D

Amy Laviero :: Friday, January 29th, 2010 6:00 pm

Apparently even the Grammy’s are jumping on the 3-D bandwagon that Avatar has perpetuated. May I add before I go any further, that I despised Avatar. That movie had some of the worst dialogue I’ve ever had the misfortune of hearing, more cheese than Titanic, and the “totally rad, ground-breaking, 3-D special effects” only served to make my stomach churn. Halfway through I tried to remove my RealD goggles only to realize that it was even more nauseating to watch the film without them. Screw you, James Cameron.

It’s safe to conclude that aside from 3-D, the only thing that’s received more hype in the past few months is Michael Jackson. Naturally, the masterminds over at the Grammy’s have decided that the best combatant for poor ratings would be to combine the two. Ladies and Gentleman, I give you Michael Jackson in 3-D. MORE »

Gossip Girl Jumps the Musical Shark

Brenna Ehrlich :: Monday, November 16th, 2009 3:55 pm

Let’s just get this out of the way before we go any further-you, reader (although you are probably a male), watch Gossip Girl sometimes. It’s a cultural curse, deal with it, no one’s judging. That out of the way, can we just appreciate for one moment how horrible the music has gotten on that show as of late? I mean, in the past, the soundtrack was replete with indie jams-tunes from the Crystal Castles, Conor Oberst, the (now rather mainstream) Ting Tings and the Teenagers (who, when I met them at CMJ last year, immediately announced with rabid pride that they had been featured on Gossip Girl). This year? Well, there was Cobra Starship, a rather sad appearance by Sonic Youth, some other stuff I don’t remember and now Lady Gaga. You gotta be kidding me. What’s next? The inevitable musical number from god-awful guest star Hillary Duff? Oh, it’s coming. Check out the schadenfreude after the jump.
