The Abomination That Is “Right To Laugh” From Kelsey Grammer’s Right Network

Amy Rose Spiegel :: Friday, April 23rd, 2010 6:10 pm

My pal Nicodemus did a really thorough send-up of Kelsey Grammer’s boring Republican pet project, The Right Network.  In it, he brought to my attention what must be one of the worst things to ever try and pass itself off as comedy.  The upcoming program “Right to Laugh” will soon debut on the so-called “network,” which is online-based.  It bills itself as comedy from “both sides of the aisle,” but as Nicodemus pointed out, “This show is neither funny, nor does it give perspectives from ‘both sides of the aisle’…unless that aisle runs between a Baptist Church and the RNC headquarters.”  As you can imagine, it’s horrifyingly bad, as well as funny in every way except the ones the creators intended it to be.  Take a look if you have a high tolerance for painfully bad jokes. Voice of GEICO Fired for Calling Tea Partiers “Retarded”

Amy Laviero :: Wednesday, April 21st, 2010 5:00 pm

The voice of GEICO’s “fifteen minutes” slogan has been let go for voicing his opinion on FreedomWorks and its Tea Party members. Enraged by Tea Partiers’ racist and anti-gay comments, Douglas left FreedomWorks this voicemail asking about “the percentage of people that are mentally retarded who are working for FreedomWorks and who are following it.” MORE »

Kelsey Grammer & The Right Network: Let The Slander Begin

Nick Nicoludis :: Tuesday, April 20th, 2010 4:00 pm

Major media too liberal for you? Fox News not have enough Obama bashing or staunch right-wing banter? Well, Kelsey Grammer has the solution: Right Network. The website, soon to become TV channel (most likely to be hosted on-demand or on mobile phones) boasts its ‘for the people’ stance, which really means it’s for people who even Dick Cheney would say are taking neo-conservatisim a little too far. The TV channel/website clearly tries to align itself with the sentiments of Tea Partiers across America, and Kelsey Grammer within the promo video (view after the jump) catalogs a confusing and seemingly random list of “things that just aren’t right” according to the “pro-America”, “pro-military” network. Tea Party Turns Table on Jason Levin

Shannon Hassett :: Thursday, April 15th, 2010 4:00 pm

What better motivation for a national day of partying than the end of tax season? And while frats everywhere are breaking out the booze, think of the Tea Party as that really lonely RA who takes out his lack of ass on anyone enjoying their Thirsty Thursday with a theme. Rallies are being organized around the country to help raise support for the Party’s latest plan of attack: unseating Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. But they’ve added another enemy to their growing list, and this time things are getting awfully personal. MORE »

On The Definition of Political Wisdom

Andrew Belonsky :: Tuesday, March 30th, 2010 3:00 pm

“Common sense.” It’s a term tossed around quite freely by Tea Party activists and their high-profile supporters. Sarah Palin used the contentious term in her tweet urging conservatives to “reload” against health care reformers. But what is common sense? Do these political calls have anything to do with wisdom? That’s open for debate.

When Biden Swears, Why Is It Such A Big Fucking Deal?

Amy Rose Spiegel :: Wednesday, March 24th, 2010 12:55 pm

Joe Biden was probably pretty preoccupied yesterday, what with the passage of the “historic!” health care reform and all (seriously, every news source ever, can’t you think of even one other word besides ‘historic’ to describe Obamacare?  Work on this, please).  So it was pretty understandable when his excitement got the better of him and he accidentally used some dirty language when congratulating President Obama as he signed the bill into law.  As he went to embrace Obama at the end of a celebratory speech, he murmured, “This is a big fucking deal,” and the crowd went, and continues to go, wild. Sarah Palin Supports Socialized Health Care

Alex Moore :: Monday, March 8th, 2010 1:45 pm

Speaking in Alberta, Canada, Sarah Palin announced Saturday night that she had once “zoomed over the border” for health care in Canada that her family was not able to receive in the States, a tacit endorsement of the kind of socialized health care system Palin and her Tea Party affiliates have been publicly eviscerating all year. Nothing Ever Happens

Stephen Blackwell :: Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010 7:15 pm

The vast majority of Americans would never fly a plane into a government building. Nor would they bulldoze their own home. But Americans are susceptible to being swept up in crazes good and bad, whether it’s Beatlemania or McCarthyism.

Casting the Tea Party as a wacky fringe borders on idiotic. It’s a movement that elects U.S. Senators. Its potential to become the “third party” is staggering, and I suspect liberal hatred of the movement is rooted in two things: (a) it possesses an unwavering message that (b) is completely rational. The Onward March of Right-Wing America

Colm McAuliffe :: Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010 1:30 pm

Yesterday, we innocently pondered whether the Tea Party would upset the Texas primary? Well, it turns out that the Tea Party did not upset the apple cart as Republican senator Kay Bailey Hutchison - who was considered sufficiently conservative to secure the backing of Dick Cheney - was completely outflanked by the ultra right-wing Rick Perry, taking full advantage of the wave of populist conservative anger sweeping the country right now.

Will Tea Party Upset Texas Primary?

Colm McAuliffe :: Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010 2:30 pm

Today is voting day in the Texas primaries but will the increasing profile of the Tea Party upset the apple cart? Arguably due to Texas’s relatively strong economy, Rick Perry is the favorite to win the Republican nomination today and ultimately hold on to the seat in November’s election.

But if the Tea Party brigade group together and turn out in numbers, they very well may completely overwhelm the system. Over 100,000 Texans have became active with the grassroots Tea Party since its inception are expected to attend. This recalls Obama in 2008 when his followers turned out in such numbers at the precinct conventions that despite Hillary Clinton’s victory in the voting, Obama ended up with a higher amount of Texas delegates to the National Convention. Olbermann Invited To Tea Party’s 1st Birthday In Dallas

Adam Kearney :: Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010 3:00 pm

Keith Olbermann, MSNBC commentator and host of Countdown With Keith Olbermann, has been challenged by the Dallas chapter of the Tea Party to attend their 1st annual celebration/protest this Saturday, after he called out Tea Party members for racial homogenization in the movement. The grassroots, anti-tax dissidents want to demonstrate their diversity, which they claim is greater than MSNBC’s, but asking Olbermann to attend a rally for a cause he doesn’t believe in seems like a weak attempt to convert him, or just use him for publicity. Osama bin Laden’s Climate Stance Should Shame Right

Andrew Belonsky :: Friday, January 29th, 2010 12:30 pm

Osama bin Laden took a break from his typical insanity today to blast an international enemy even President Obama loathes: climate change. Though his uninspired solutions only reinforce bin Laden’s image as a madman who’s entirely out of touch with reality, they at least make him look better than some of our elected officials. How shameful!
